It amazes me how much food can really affect your life and change the way you feel. I've been into healthy eating since I was a teen and I wanted to share my interest with all of you! I'll admit that I have days when I do not make the best food choices but my goal is to just get back on track and stay healthy as often as I can. Of course, eating healthy doesn't mean I don't get to enjoy my food. There are lots of flavorful, healthy foods & recipes, and even desserts! On this blog I will share with you what I eat, along with recipes & pictures. You could use my blog as a guide to healthy eating, or just for recipes and ideas!

Kashi U Cereal (breakfast 9.26.10)

Breakfast this morning was a bowl of cereal again. I wanted to eat quickly because I was going for an early walk on the Rockefeller trails with my parents. I had a bowl of Kashi U Cereal with another very ripe banana and a cup of coffee with skim milk (not pictured). Being that I always eat the same cereals over and over, I decided I would buy a new cereal each week, along with my favorite staple cereals, to add more variety as well as try new products. This week the cereal I picked up was Kashi U with walnuts & black currants. By all means this cereal sounds great, it supposedly promotes cardio nourishment with omega 3's and B vitamins, boosts immunity with vitamins A, C, and E, strengthens your body with calcium and vitamin D, and even has lots of fiber, prebiotics and whole grains for a healthy digestive system. But in the taste department, I think it was lacking. I've tried a lot of the Kashi Cereals and I've always really enjoyed them. This was the first kind that I wasn't too fond of. It would've been good but the black currants are just too sour, and every time I got one on my spoon it overtook the flavor of the cereal and then lingered in my mouth.
I'm sure if I avoided the currants it wouldn't have been bad, but when I buy a box of cereal I don't plan on wasting time picking out ingredients. I guess this week I'll be sticking to my usual cereals and try again next week for a new box. Anyhow, our walk this morning went great. The weather was perfect for walking and it was very relaxing. But, now I'm back home with tons of things to do so I better get started. Have a great day!
